How to travel to Lodge Lagom

The fastest way to travel is by plane. You have to fly on Stockholm Arlanda (ARN) and from there you have the following options:

OPTION 1 - FLY FURTHER and DRIVE

From Stockholm Arlanda (ARN) you will fly further to a closer airport.

- Åre / Östersund Airport in Frösön (OSD)

- Sundsvall Timrå Airport in Sörberge (SDL)

- Höga Kusten Airport in Kramfors (KRF)

The first two airports are the best options with good connections if you fly with www.flysas.com. The flight will take about 55/60 minutes and your luggage will be forwarded automatically. From both airports it will be approximately a 1,5 hour drive. The third option has not always the best connections, but from there it is a bit shorter drive.

Travel the last part with a rental car that you rent in advance. After you've booked your ticket at SAS you will get an option to rent a car and that will give you some discount at the bigger rental organizations.

Good to know that in winter you will get automatically winter tires without extra payment. These are special dubb-däck winter tires with little spikes that we use here in the North for having the best grip in winter season.

OPTION 2 - FLY and DRIVE

From Stockholm Arlanda you will drive further by car. It will be approximately a 5 hour drive.

Rent a car in advance. After you've booked your ticket you will get an option afterwards to rent a car and that will give you some discount at the bigger rental organizations.

Driving from Stockholm Arlanda to Lodge Lagom is a perfect option in the spring, summer and autumn season, but is not recommended in the winter. The winter weather can be very hard, roads are icy and days are short. You'll probably have to drive many hours in the dark. If it is snowing the sight will be very bad and dangerous. If you do want to choose this option in winter then it's good to know that at Stockholm you will get the regular winter tires without extra payment, but the regular winter tires or all weather tires are not convenient for traveling in the North of Sweden. Here you need the special dubb-däck winter tires with little spikes that we use for having the best grip in winter. Best advice is to tell them in advance that you are travelling to Jämtland and ask for Dubb-Däck winter tires. Keep in mind that you probably have to pay extra for that.

OPTION 3 - FURTHER BY TRAIN and DRIVE

From Stockholm Arlanda (ARN) you can travel straight from the airport by train to Sundsvall . The train trip will normally take around 3,5 hours, but depends on which connection you choose. You can book a ticket on www.sj.se but make sure to choose that you travel from Arlanda C to Sundsvall. That is the train station at Arlanda Airport.

But note that you have to rent the car from Sundsvall and not from Stockholm Arlanda. From Sundsvall it will be a 1,5 hour drive to Lodge Lagom

DRIVING ALL THE WAY

Many choose to travel all the way by car to Lodge Lagom. Especially in summer people love the scenery of Sweden. There are a lot of options to travel all the way by car or combine it with a Ferry crossing. But because there are so many ferry options from different locations it is difficult to give advice in that. Please check the internet for all possible crossings and choose what's the best option for you.
